Welcome, Clippers!

Kennedy Middle School's mission is to develop a child’s academic and social skills necessary to effectively deal with a changing self in a changing world.  We do this through innovative teaching techniques in all classes, collaboration, integrated technology, and rigorous academics, including Honor’s level and project-based learning courses.  We encourage all students to become involved in the school culture through athletics, our multiple student-led organizations, and school spirit activities.  Kennedy Middle School is a great place to create positive memories, learn, grow, and prepare for your future…wherever that may lead you.

Our middle school is located in St. Clair Shores, Michigan, and we are home to approximately 850 students.  Students, parents and staff work together in a student-centered environment promoting self-esteem, and exploration and nurturing lifelong learning.  A supportive climate encourages healthy risk takers and fosters responsible citizenship.  Professional growth is ongoing, and positive role modeling is all encompassing.  High value is placed on curiosity, creativity, cooperative learning, and principled decision-making.

A team-based approach provides time for teachers to work together collaboratively to develop curriculum, discuss successful teaching strategies, and to address individual student needs.  This approach also enhances communication among teachers, students and parents, as time is purposefully set aside for collective meetings.  By creating links between school and home, students feel part of a community that cares for them and that strives to provide skills important to healthy adolescent development.

As an active learning center, our school day begins well before the first hour and often ends during the evening hours.  Sporting events, club meetings, and musical performances represent just a few of the before and after school activities where students are involved.  Teachers provide additional support and encouragement for students during this time.

In our middle school, we take special pride in the importance of celebrations and in nurturing a positive school climate.  Formal and informal recognitions take place in our school throughout the year to honor individual and collective achievements.  Recognizing the successes of students through clipper celebrations, school achievement, and being a positive, helpful member of the school has a far-reaching and lasting, positive impact on the students, parents and staff.

It is a pleasure and honor to welcome you and your family to Kennedy Middle School.
